Good Vibrations Barcelona is a non-profit group consisting of a multitude of people who want nothing more than to spread smiles and happiness through the world, and they do this with the most interesting social experiments and activities, engaging random people in order to see their reactions.Started by Peter Sharp, a young and bright Australian living in Barcelona, the group is rightfully gaining traction. I am very excited about this and have been following Peter quite some time on his journey via facebook. I first met him about a year and half ago where we sat down to brainstorm and discuss a little about life. Unfortunately I have not had the time to get actively involved in GVB myself though I have been in one thing or the other (its all about fun). Reviewing his mission, I quote from facebook, “To spread fun, love and happiness socially.”
This is a group of positive, fun, loving people who meet to spread the joy of life through the community of Barcelona. Free Hugs, Flashmobs, Moving Street Parties, Cookies for smiles and much more. Simply put we conduct social experiments that: 1. Spread happiness, hope and trust in the community 2. Connect us with other fun loving people living in Barcelona 3. Build lasting memories for life
I love what Peter is doing. The majority of people might find it very odd and perhaps question the purpose. My subjective opinion is that we need more people with this thinking. In a society where within the past two decades we have gone to extremes on materialism, sexism and have and have-nots, people like Peter and Good Vibrations Barcelona are truly making a difference through the simple gestures of friendliness.Honestly, how often do you walk around town, in a rush, (un)concentrated, hanging out, dining, etc and coming across such a group of folks carrying out their social expierements – you might just raise an eyebrow. As unfortunate as it is, we all chase the green (dollars) to ensure we have a decent lifestyle and can enjoy the luxuries life has to offer us however take the time out of your busy schedule to help someone, donate something, talk to a person, greet someone and go beyond your comfort zone. If we all pitch in, the world just might become a friendlier place. Peter and gang, keep it up! I LOVE IT!
