The movie, directed by Marc Foster and was written by Matthew Michael Carnahan alongside a host of collaborators, “evokes a hectic density of modern life”. It stirs the fear of a plague and the processes leading up to anarchy. The constant feeling of acceleration and panic. Reading a bit online, the movie apparently went through quite an amount of rewriting and reshooting and in the end Forster and Pitt (a producer of the film and the star), pulled it through. Discussing with my brother we do agree that scenes were held very short, which after having read the book did bother me. The elaborate story telling by Max Brooks in the book is one of a kind if your interested in the genre. However, in the end Renata, Chris and I do agree that the movie did bring back a reawakening of shock in a large screen movie. Something that in the recent years to my opinion has been digitally slammed without much pure content.
To put it into perspective: “right after the opening scenes, in which we see warnings that things are going awry, Gerry Lane (Pitt), a retired United Nations trouble-shooter; his wife, Karin (Mireille Enos); and their two young daughters, driving in the family S.U.V., get stuck in traffic in downtown Philadelphia. Suddenly, the street erupts: motorcycle cops whizz by, a garbage truck plows through the waiting cars, there’s an explosion up ahead, and people start running, terrified. The speed and the violence hit you like lightning. Then, gradually, in brief, searing glimpses, you see them: human-looking creatures, with disintegrating flesh and wild eyes, biting and mauling people and causing general mayhem. These scenes suggest how quickly a major American city can fall into chaos. But what’s causing the behavior? A viral outbreak? At first, no one uses the word “zombie”—it seems too silly.”
“World War Z” has been an incredible movie, and thumbs up to Brad Pitt. Gerry Lane is tough and infinitely resourceful, but he doesn’t fly, he doesn’t pass through walls, and, in the long tradition of unpretentious movie heroes, he’s reluctant and terse. Ill let you discover it for yourself.
Enjoy.
What are your thoughts on Zombies? World War Z? Enjoy reading grab the book? Otherwise the movie!
