myKiids has been baking in the oven for quite some time. I had the idea and vision, of what I wanted it to be back in Sant Cugat, but never took it on as a challenge.

Once we moved to Valencia I began playing around with Android Studio and created an Android app mapping out a few playgrounds. But it was nowhere near sufficient or usable in regard to what I wanted it to be. I then began playing with WordPress and testing out Laravel, and found the latter to be more interesting for this project.

Albeit there still being a lot on the “to do” list (bug fixes, features, etc.) I launched the site a 2 years ago (ca. summer 2020) as a side project in between other things and although at first glance it’s nothing more than a directory, as mentioned above, I do have some ideas of what I would like the site to become aside from a pure database.

In the meantime though, what is mind-blowing to me is the amount of traffic the site already generates with 0 marketing efforts. Initially, last summer mykiids had 2-3 unique visitors per day and roughly 30ish requests (sessions). Today, the site receives roughly 250 unique visitors per day and has over 7k+ requests (sessions). Over the course of the last 10 months, this has translated into 47k+ unique visitors, a bounce rate of ca. 55%, an average duration of 4min, and what I find important – returning visitors (retention) ca. 46%.

Life is beautiful. Make it happen.
