It initially started a few weeks ago when we began discussing redesign plans for certain areas of our apartment. Now that we have our fifth family member arriving, we needed to remap what is and goes where. So after having created a few layouts and having taken measurements of everything we began looking for furniture and this past week managed to get a few things. With that I then decided that I would move everything on my agenda for Saturday and use it as a work day.Waking up at 0700 am, allowing myself to sleep that extra hour. I mean it’s Saturday for goodness sake. I took out the dogs for our usual morning stroll and then the work began. Turning my wife’s design room into our baby room with the blueprints of what we had worked out earlier. The following pictures shows the transformation from one to the other (at least phase 1 of the transformation). One note though – I invaded the space and made it look quite messy over the past days so I didn’t catch the original design room.

Going from:

Spent an hour Friday evening taking off all the shelf’s and cementing in the holes so that after I moved out everything in the morning I could get started.

After sanding down the walls and cleaning them, all areas that needed painting were taped down before beginning with walls.

Then I began taping the wall as we wanted to bring in some stripes.

Then the paint came on. When you do patterns always make sure to tape down the right areas in terms of where you want your lines to be. This will save you tons of time.

Then it was done and dry. Off comes the tape.

Then came the first pieces of furniture. The green bookshelf is temporary from our living room for the next weeks until the remaining baby furniture arrives.

Then came a few last touches to make it a comfy reading room.

There you go. In half a day we got quite a few things done. Now there are still several things missing like carpet, closet, lighting system, sound system, and a few other things, but piece by piece its coming together.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Let us know if you have any projects similar to ours! We’d love to see what you do whatever the space may be.
