“…the real entrepreneurship – not the caricature from pop culture and mass media – is boring, tedious, and extremely difficult. It’s anything but cool: product prioritization meetings, deciding which customers to listen to and which to ignore, and valiantly trying to keep the vision alive in the face of contradictory facts.”Eric Ries
I must admit that through my personal experiences of being an entrepreneur, I’ve really had an exhilarating ride until now. Yes, there are your ups and downs, moments of frustration and times where Eric is simply right. One needs to keep the vision alive despite the fact that everyone and everything will tend to put a roadblock in your way (This is bringing up other thoughts on entrepreneurship which Ill keep for a later time, but noted down on my white board). Entrepreneurship isn’t always as glamorous as it is sometime made out to be. No matter what business your diving into, most days end up being very long and sluggish, even though things may be getting done, instead of that typical picture of a comfortable cruise. Every day will present a new set of challenges; in thought, in design and in execution. Having to make tough decisions daily requires a kind of focus and energy that is tedious, meticulous and not just adrenaline-driven for a limited period of time. Either way, I don’t expect that ride to end any time soon…
