Hi. I’m HK.
Life is beautiful.
Father. Husband. Athlete. Entrepreneur. Investor. Tech Maven.
I’m a family guy in my thirties who loves to build things, learn, and take risks. After a decade and some – of being in the rat race, I left the corporate world, and my wife and I decided to pick up our family and move to Valencia, Spain in order to replenish and focus on family, health, and well-being.
I have had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with my kids. Something I am extremely thankful for. And the way my wife and I raise them, they too have taught us a lot about ourselves. Nothing goes above family and wonderful friends.
Towards the end of 2019 we picked up our family again and moved to Düsseldorf, Germany where I lead Operational Excellence. Albeit having met wonderful people and friends, we came to the conclusion that we need a different environment, so in 2022 we moved to an island.
While progressing professionally, I’ve always been a full-performance athlete (at heart anyway) always seeking to fulfill my desires by doing what I love, with near perfectionism and passion. From a young age I was actively involved in a multitude of sports from soccer to American football, martial arts (Black Belt 1 Dan – Shodon) to Track and Field. At the age of 14, I completed my first of many marathons.
Now I primarily focus on triathlons, with road biking being my favorite discipline and leaning on my wife to make sure I eat right. That’s because I love food. Like really, I seriously love food. I love cooking and I love eating. And my kids seem to be the same.
I believe that every day is full of new opportunities and that you need to seize them, crushing your limits at everything you do to become a better person and inspire the world for good. Life to me is a mindset, soak in your surroundings the best you can and never stop engaging. I believe that life is a fine balance between ambition, working hard, and spending time on important things without having to compromise on one’s goals. I have been fortunate enough to do that after leaving my corporate job, studying and the opportunities’ life has given me.
Now it’s time for new challenges.
I am a leader at heart.
After my studies, I went corporate and from there on was fortunate enough, through hard work and smart hustle, to begin a quick climb on the career ladder. I’ve always been very dedicated, focused, a quick learner, and love working with people to improve operations and the customer journey/experience.
Over the course of several years, I’ve had the privilege of assuming various managerial positions within renowned organizations at companies like HP, HPE, and Lime, leading teams of up to 400+ people with responsibilities in a variety of areas.
I have a BA in Business Administration and two Master’s degrees. In the midst of all this, I also embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship in a variety of areas from coaching to digital solutions, because I find immense satisfaction in aiding others in achieving their goals. I love investing which provides huge opportunities, hence I do that from time to time.
Albeit having a “time out” from the corporate world, I continue to have the privilege of doing what I love when I want including mentoring and coaching individuals from all walks of life. This endeavor is particularly close to my heart because, to me, leadership is not solely about personal ascent; it’s about empowering others to rise alongside you.
I love taking ideas and dissecting them, looking at them from various angles and then putting them back together, explaining them in a simple manner, as if explaining to my children – because that is how I learn.
What I share is a mix of my personal interests and life’s meanderings, ideas or concepts I come across, and then with due diligence, reading and research, I gain insight into them, and try to explain the results in an actionable way.
I don’t believe in a lot of the conventional stuff out there.
What I do believe is:
Pain is part of life / We as humans are flawed / Growth is outside our comfort zone / Our purpose is positive progress / Identity is obnoxious
I still have a lot to learn myself, hence I do not claim to know the answers to everything. My work is my perspective and world view on life, which is ever changing and evolving. In all of that, growing better as individuals and contributing to the community is at my core.
I hope you find it useful.
This website first went online in 2008 and has gone through many iterations, failures, growths, and whatnot.
This is a place where I share my thoughts and ideas on everything from business, and technology, to fitness and my personal life.
That being said, welcome to my home on the web.
